Initial reports had suggested that Themba Siphiwe Khumalo (56) had left his home at Area 38 on June 10 and walked to Winklespruit. Speaking to the SUN, Sakhile Khumalo said Themba had gone to Isipingo.

“Since he went missing, we published many posts on social media asking the public to help us look for him. It was through one of those posts that someone alerted us that a person who fits his description had died after having a seizure on the same day our father went missing,” said Sakhile.

Upon investigating further, it was confirmed that it was Themba who had died.

“We are in pain, but at least we have closure because it hurt not knowing where he was and what had happened to him. We would like to thank everyone who helped us search for him. Thank you for all the support and prayers,” he said.

The family has gone into mourning and has started the process of planning the funeral. Malusi said that details will be finalised once the police give them the go-ahead.
