Toti teen raises rehabilitation funds after accident

A 19-year-old Amanzimtoti resident was severely injured in a car accident and requires funds to continue with rehabilitation treatment.

NAKITA Jardine (19) still has a long journey of recovery ahead of her after she and her father were involved in an accident on the road between Lower Illovo and the R603 recently.

She was left with a fractured and dislocated hip, while her father suffered a cut to his knee that required stitching up. Nakita said that she and her father were on their way home when the accident happened, and the man who collided with their car was allegedly drunk and had no driver’s licence. She was taken to Netcare Kingsway Hospital but was later transferred to Port Shepstone Regional Hospital because she did not have medical aid.

Since she was discharged from the hospital, Nakita has been on bed rest until her next appointment with the surgeon on July 10. She started a GoFundMe campaign to collect funds to help with her rehabilitation process to walk again.

“The reason why I have started this account is to help raise funds to assist in my recovery in regards to my hip/pelvic operation, and starting my journey towards being able to walk again. We all know how tough times are at the moment, so any help would be appreciated,” she said.
