Kingsburgh Welfare calls for support this Mandela Month

The welfare society appeals to everyone who has been assisted by the organisation in the past to pay it forward this Mandela Month and assist those in need.

AS Mandela Month approaches in July, Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare is reaching out to all those who have been assisted by the organisation in the past.

The welfare’s social worker, Sandra Govender, said that whether you received help with family issues, counselling, food parcels or other forms of support, now is the time to pay it forward and help others facing similar hardships.

“It has been tough times at the welfare where unemployment, poverty and lack of funding have been the order of the day. We are appealing to community members, individuals, schools, companies, faith-based organisations or those who have been clients or beneficiaries to donate clothing, groceries, toiletries and household items,” she said.

The items you haven’t worn or used in the last year can be incredibly valuable to someone else.

“These donations not only help those in need but also support our income-generating project, where unemployed individuals can purchase items from our charity shop to resell and sustain their families,” said Govender.

In addition, the welfare is also appealing for sanitary towels for young girls as it embarks on a programme to promote hygiene and abstinence.

Mandela Month is more than just a celebration of Nelson Mandela’s legacy on his birthday, July 18, it is an opportunity for each person to make a positive impact in their community, recognising their individual power to effect change.

“We are only able with your help to provide the best possible services to the children and families in our community. Help us make a difference,” added Govender.

Donations can be dropped off at the welfare’s office / charity shop at 2 Hall Road in Warner Beach on weekdays (except Wednesdays) from 08:00 and 12:00.
