She won the Crafters’ category, walking away with a certificate of recognition, a trophy and a monetary prize at the glitzy event held at Durban’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre.

An excited Christine said it was a blessing and a privilege to win the award.

“God’s timing is always perfect. He knows exactly what we need! I praise Him because I believe nothing happens without Him. I have received a lot of recognition for my work, but I have never entered any competitions, so this was the first and very encouraging indeed,” she said.

Christine thanked her friends who encouraged her to enter and the community for its ongoing support of her work. She also thanked Durban Tourism for creating such an amazing opportunity for those involved in tourism.

Durban Tourism’s Thulani Zungu said the annual awards were established to celebrate, honour and award the people who are at the forefront of promoting eThekwini Municipality as a vibrant tourist destination.

“The awards have gained momentum since inception, providing a tangible impact on the tourism sector and a much-needed boost. This is through recognising and honouring outstanding businesses and individuals in the tourism industry to advance their products, services and establishments,” said Thulani.

He noted that the number of entries this year increased drastically compared to last year, which he said was a clear indication that the event was impactful.
