The provisions worth thousands of rands, including food, clothing and other items, were collected during a mass ride organised by Dalene Heath of Toti Community Assist (TCA). The mass ride convoy started at the Amanzimtoti CBD and ended at the Operation Bobbi Bear premises in Doon Heights.

Operation Bobbi Bear is a human rights organisation that assists sexually abused children by providing shelter and arranging counselling. Eureka said it is not easy to look after the children because the finances are always running low. She noted that there have been negative comments about Operation Bobbi Bear on social media, perpetrated by the family of a man she helped get arrested and convicted because he had raped a child.

Dalene said she was also amazed by how the community of Amanzimtoti responded to the plight of the children at Operation Bobbi Bear.

“One day, those children will be a testament to others, and the seed of hope, love, compassion and care gets sown out of acts of kindness. A community that stands together is a strong community,” she said.
