Community braai strengthens bonds in Amanzimtoti [Pictures]

At the community braai, residents got to meet the people behind the security companies that protect them. Neighbours also got to know each other and strengthen their bonds.

THE Toti Berea Community Police Sub-Forum held its annual bring and braai at Kuswag Skool recently to strengthen the bond between the patrollers and the community.

The event allowed the community to mingle and meet people from the various security companies and the community police forum (CPF) members and patrollers while just soaking in the relaxing Saturday afternoon with family, friends and neighbours.

Gary Kelly, the sub-forum’s chairperson, said people do not get together as much as they did in the past.

“I want to foster a new tradition and culture where people can get together and meet new people. It’s beneficial because it’s always good to know your neighbour. They also get the opportunity to meet the people behind the security companies that keep them safe on a daily basis. We always get a massive response from the community. This braai is also to thank them for their support,” he said.

There were plenty of fun things lined up for the day, including jumping castles for the children, free popcorn, SANBS’ blood drive to save lives, sponsored lucky draw prizes and music by DJ Miklus.
