ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, said the call about the incident was received at 11:30. The victim was a female believed to be in her 30s.
“When paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the police already in attendance and were shown to a vehicle where they found a woman unresponsive. She showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene by ALS Paramedics,” said Jamieson.
The victim was found sitting in the driver’s seat and it has not been immediately apparent whether there was another person involved in the shooting or if she was by herself. The silver Kia Picanto she was found in had Mpumalanga number plates.
“At this stage the events leading up to the shooting are unknown, however, the police will be investigating further,” he said.
