Her descendants flew in from all around the world to mark the special day, and her son, Daniel, said the family is blessed to have her. Asked about the secret to his mother’s long life, Daniel said she worked hard all her life and took good care of herself.

“Even her skin still looks good for her age because she has used Nivea cream since she was young,” said Daniel.

Anna was born on February 25, 1924, in Ottoshoop in the then-western Transvaal and got married to John Cornelius on February 10, 1945. She worked at the Rissik Street Post Office in Johannesburg for 44 years before retiring in 1989. In the same year, she and her husband moved to Amanzimtoti to retire and enjoy the coastal climate. Her husband sadly passed away in September 2016 after 71 years of marriage.

The couple was blessed with four children, all of whom are still alive, nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
