Isipingo accident claims life

Poor road markings have led to many accidents on Phila Ndwandwe Road.

IN ISIPINGO, Raveshan Govender (43) was killed in a head-on collision with a taxi while making his way home from work on November 16. The accident happened on Phila Ndwandwe Road, which has had frequent accidents as a result of poor road markings at certain stretches.

Govender, who was a carpenter, was on his way to his home in Umzinto when he met his demise.

In another incident, Amanzimtoti SAPS opened a murder docket after the body of a man was found floating near the Illovo River mouth on November 20.

Police divers, eThekwini lifeguards, and metro police responded to the scene about a kilometre upstream from the river mouth, near the picnic area. The unknown male’s body was recovered in the afternoon, and the police have started investigations into the incident.
