Funds raised in Doonside for year-end function

The year-end function will be held in honour of all local first responders and emergency personnel.

TO RAISE funds for its year-end function next month, The Community Assist (TCA) held a boerewors-roll sale in Doonside near the SUN building on October 21.

The TCA founder, Dalene Heath, said the organisation was started in February 2022 to bring first responders and emergency services on one platform where they can be easily accessed by community members. She said the idea for TCA came after her husband died two years ago and she had no idea who to call.

“The funds raised will go towards the year-end function for first responders which will be held at Lower Illovo, on November 25, to award them and show gratitude. There will be trophies, certificates and medals awarded,” said Dalene.

The fundraiser was well-supported, with the first batch of boerewors rolls selling out within two hours. Dalene said that next year, TCA will register as a non-profit organisation.
