Radio legend in the mix at The Durban International Book Fair

At the fair, Khoza will also host a free radio masterclass for aspiring broadcasters and a session on exploring the impact artificial intelligence has on publishing.

MAKHOSI Khoza, whose career in radio spans three decades, will be part of the line-up at the 2023 Durban International Book Fair.

His career spans eSwatini, the UK and SA at stations like East Coast Radio, GagasiFM, VumaFM, Radio 2000, RISEfm, 702 and Cape Talk, to name a few. He has dabbled on-air, in management and as a consultant.

Khoza recently quit corporate and is Co-CEO of Nouveau Mirage Media alongside Nerissa Maharaj. Nouveau Mirage Media provides services, such as book publishing and TV production, as well as radio and media training.

Nerissa Maharaj has almost two decades of experience in the IT and technical space in radio, and she has activated her nerd side to encompass her passion for training, development and the creative arts.

The Durban International Book Fair will host a stellar array of writers and artists from across the continent and the world. Writers, creatives, exhibitors, researchers, schools, non-government organisations (NGOs), government agencies or ordinary South Africans are expected to converge at the five-day event which will take place from August 9 to 13 at The Globe, Suncoast.

This year’s theme, ‘The book and beyond’, will allow attendees to explore and understand the literary world like never before.

As Nouveau Mirage Media, they will launch two books at The Durban International Book Fair; the first will be Kind Regards – a comedic take on corporate life in South Africa based on real-life experiences; the second will be The A to Z of Content Creation – a handbook for radio practitioners.

In addition to releasing two books, Khoza will also host a free radio masterclass for aspiring broadcasters and a session on exploring the impact AI (artificial intelligence) has on publishing.

The Durban International Book Fair is hosted in partnership with, among others, eThekwini Municipality, Tsogo Sun, Micromega Publications, UKZN Press, Independent Media and the South African Department of Arts and Culture.
