“This year’s Durban International Book Fair promises to be bigger and better than ever before. With an extensive line-up of renowned authors, distinguished speakers and engaging activities, attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a literary wonderland,” said co-founder of the Durban International Book Fair, Anivesh Singh.

“The Durban Book Fair extends a warm invitation to authors, publishers, literary enthusiasts and the general public to join us at #DIBF2023. Immerse yourself in the world of words, discover new perspectives and embrace the magic of storytelling. We look forward to your presence and participation in creating cherished memories and forging new literary connections. Entry is free,” he added.

Highlights of the event include:

Author meet and greets: Meet your favourite authors, get your books signed and engage in insightful conversations. More than 150 authors will be participating in #DIBF2023.

Panel discussions and presentations: A diverse range of thought-provoking sessions, led by experts and covering various genres, writing techniques and the latest trends in the publishing industry, will be presented at the fair. Eighteen publishers are participating.

Book launches: Witness the unveiling of new literary works from all genres.

Book exhibitions and sales: Browse through an extensive collection of books and discover hidden literary gems. Thirty exhibitors are set to be there.

Chess tournament: Participate in or support a casual chess tournament, which is expecting about 50 players. The winner walks away with R1 500.

Living library: The living library will allow attendees to ‘check out’ walking-talking books. It is a library of human experiences, where readers can engage in one-on-one conversations with ‘living books’ who act as storytellers and share their personal narratives. Each living book will be available for a scheduled conversation during which readers can engage in an open and respectful dialogue, ask questions and learn from the book’s unique life experiences.

“We are looking forward to the support of local schools as we aim to foster a love for reading among children and encourage lifelong learning,” he said.
