Looking for something to do on the weekend? We have lined up some interesting local events for you to enjoy.

IF you need help deciding what to do on the weekend, we have compiled a list of happenings in the area to make it easy for you.

December 3

THE Amazing Race fundraiser is in need of at least 10 more teams to sign up ahead of its inaugural event at Lords and Legends on December 3 at 10:00. Teams of 4–5 at R200 per person compete in mental and physical challenges at secret locations in and around Amanzimtoti. Strictly no under 18s. Teams can be booked on WhatsApp only at 079 355 9214 or email at femfitbluff@outlook.com. Bookings will be confirmed with proof of payment via EFT.

KINGSBURGH Lions will be holding their last jumble or white-elephant sale of the year on December 3 at St Mary’s Anglican Church, 157 Kingsway Street, Warner Beach from 07:00 to 09:30. There are plenty of bargains to be had.

THE SPCA will host its 2022 Christmas Market at 2 Willowfield Crescent, Springfield Park, on December 3, between 08:00 and 12:00. Tanya Fleischer, the marketing manager at the Durban & Coast SPCA, said there would be a variety of stalls with various items on offer, as well as delicious meals or treats. “Our Christmas trees will also be available to purchase. We encourage residents to come and support our market. Entrance is free.”

A WELLNESS clinic will be held at the Harlequins Market situated off Club Drive, on The Bluff, on December 3, from 08:00 to 13:00. Visit the market to have your blood pressure and sugar tested for free. For more information, contact 083 595 7033.

DECEMBER 4

THE Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare (KCWF) will host their annual family beach walk on December 4, at Winkle Beach, from 07:00 to 07:30. Walkers to meet at Winklespruit Surf Life Saving Club. Entry is R20 for adults and a bag of clothing (linen and/or toys), and R10 for children. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Contact 031 916 2274.

DURBAN Junior Skating Club offers free lessons to everyone on World Ice Skating Day on December 4, at Galleria Ice Rink from 07:00 to 08:00. Take your friends and come find out what skating is all about. Expect exciting skating showcases, helpful tips and lots of fun. All are welcome. Confirm your attendance with the head coach, Heather Ashley, via WhatsApp or SMS at 084 245 3683.

DECEMBER 9

THE Durban Gospel Choir will be bringing festive cheer to Galleria Mall on December 9, at 18:00. Come watch them perform live at the Mugg & Bean food court. Seating is available, and the show is free to the public.

 

THE RE/MAX Toti Christmas lights display is open to the public every night from November 26 to January 6, including public holidays, from 18:00 to 22:00. This year they are supporting Bobbi Bear to raise funds and collect items needed, like toys, clothes (new and second-hand), shoes, food and toiletries. Take an item along and enjoy a festive atmosphere. All are welcome.
