Fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, and touring on cruise ships around the world, Impossible, featuring Brendon Peel’s mind-blowing magic, is finally coming to Durban! Impossible is a show filled with delightful deceptions, fantastic illusions, and mind-boggling mentalism that will leave you wondering if the impossible can, for a fleeting moment, be possible. Join Peel as he weaves his magic in an entertaining display of unique psychological experiments, classic magic tricks, as well as feats of true impossibility. The live shows will run at Bellézar, uMhlanga from November 18 to November 22, daily, at 18:00. Tickets are priced at R250 per adult and R150 for children under 12. Tasting new wines direct from France

The Beaujolais Nouveau celebration takes place across the world to mark the opening of the first bottles of this year’s harvest from the most famous wine-growing region of France, Beaujolais.

The Alliance Francaise de Durban will be hosting a Beaujolais Nouveau event this Friday, November 18 at 18:00.

Tickets (R140, or R110 for members and AF students) include a free glass of wine and live music from the Gypsy Strings.  There will also be a live auction of beautiful locally crafted items and signed photographs by our dear friend, Samora Chapman.  The proceeds of the auction go to support the Alliance’s work in teaching French to the children of refugees in Durban.

The Alliance Francaise is based at 22 Sutton Crescent, Morningside, and there will be plenty of guarded parking.

For the month of November, Concerts South Africa is hosting a regular Sunday afternoon live music gig at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo. This Sunday, November 20, the band, Milkyway Galaxy, will be in the spotlight. They were formed in 2011 by Mzamo Zungu (drums), Bonga Xulu (bass guitar), Sbonelo Nxumalo (keyboard) and Phumeza Nkosi or ‘Senzi’ (vocalist). The band’s refreshing sound draws from several genres: jazz, pop, African music and rock. Tickets are priced at R100, or you can pay cash at the venue. To book, contact 082 499 8636. Festooned with thousands of lights, in the awe-inspiring lighting displays, buzzing with live entertainment, Santa’s Grotto, magical festive characters, charity-hosted Santa’s Workshop, KZN’s brightest Christmas tree, a special Secret Garden of Lights concealed within the trail, all new horticultural displays and two fabulous food gardens … The Trail of Lights is back … bigger, better and brighter!

Dinner and Dance with Uncle Henry

Join your host, Uncle Hendry Pakiri, for a retro Dinner and Dance. Recently retired, Pakiri worked at The Oyster Box for over 50 years, and during his time as the manager of the Grill Room, he met all the hotel’s most famous guests.
