The singing contest began in July and concluded in August. Over a period of four weeks, singers duked it out in song, progressing through elimination rounds each week. The crop of songbirds was whittled down to the top 20 and then the top 10, who were required to perform three songs in the finals – two of their choice and an additional one that was chosen for them by the judges. Rob was ultimately crowned champion.

“I have entered karaoke competitions before, but I had never won any, so I’m absolutely honoured and grateful to have won. You can never tell what the judges are looking for, and who they believe delivered the song and the performance that they enjoyed the most. I think every singer brought their unique style and personality to their songs, and I was privileged to sing alongside each one of them,” said Rob.

He walked away with cash and other prizes from a variety of sponsors. Rob also shared some advice with anyone who is aiming to reach goals they have set.

“Never let anyone or anything stand in the way of your dreams, no matter who or what you are. I have been singing for many years, and I still aspire to keep singing and reaching milestones. At the end of the day, humans are happiest when serving other people. For me, I do that in song,” he said.
