The vision of Noah’s Ark Pre-School and Daycare Centre started in 1991, when two members of Amanzimtoti Baptist Church, both teachers, saw the need for a balanced Christian-based pre-school, where children of all races could be educated in the Amanzimtoti area.
Noah’s Ark was launched as a ministry of Amanzimtoti Baptist Church and opened its doors to the public on August 4, 1992, led by Pastor Dave and his wife Gillian Stemmit. Within a short space of time the school grew and moved from using the back of the church hall, into three new classrooms. After Pastor Dave and his wife accepted a ministry call to Germany, Glenda Scheckman guided the school as principal and faithfully served the school for 18 years.
Our school continued to grow and under the guidance of Nadia Haylock as principal, who joined in February 2010, curriculum from the KZN Department of Education, Revised National Curriculum Syllabus (RNCS), Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) as well as The Gospel Project was introduced.
Our school offers different classes to each age group, ranging from the age of 3 months to 6 years, each with their own well-qualified teacher and trained assistant staff.
In the baby and toddler section, charts monitor the children’s daily progress. An age related programme ensures optimum development of the young child in our care. In the nursery section we have an excellent Grade R facility with a qualified pre-school teacher and Grade R Facilitator. We follow a school readiness programme with different themes every week. Progress reports are given twice a year and constant communication with our parents ensures that problem areas are sorted out quickly. Our school also offers breakfast, a fully cooked meal as well as snacks during the day. A team of well-qualified and dedicated teachers and assisting staff make sure that Noah’s Ark Pre-school and Daycare Centre provides only the best service to its clients.
Our aim is to continue to equip our children to strive for excellence in life. As we look back on the history of this school, we see God’s hand very clearly in it and we continue to trust Him for all that He has planned in the future.
