eThekwini to reintroduce load-shedding from August 1
eThekwini has prepared a temporary schedule that will be effective for stages 4 and higher.
A NEW load-shedding schedule for Stage 4 (or higher) has been introduced as the eThekwini Municipality announced that rolling blackouts would affect the City from Monday, August 1.
Ethekwini has been spared load-shedding after the widespread damage to the electrical grid during the April and May floods in the province.
“As some substations are still out of commission and many parts of the network require re-configuration, the existing load-shedding schedules had to be amended,” said Msawakhe Mayisela, spokesperson for the municipality.

“EThekwini has prepared a temporary schedule that will be effective for stages 4 and higher. This schedule will be in use until further notice. Certain areas will be excluded from load-shedding because of highly compromised networks.”
The amended loadshedding schedule can be accessed via this link.
Mayisela added that eThekwini and Eskom are in continuous engagements to avert any further risks to the City’s electrical grid.
