Snare Aware remove thousandth snare

Their job is also far from done, with thousands of snares still to be removed.

THE Snare Aware team achieved a major milestone over the last week when they removed their thousandth snare from the bush.

“It’s a bittersweet moment for us. The fact that over 1 000 snares have been removed from the bush, makes us both elated and relieved, but also angry and a little depressed that so many snares were in the bush,” said a member whose identity cannot be disclosed due to safety reasons.

Their job is also far from done, with thousands of snares still to be removed. But, they like to focus on the positive and have been happily reflecting on all the animals that have been saved.

“This has, without a doubt, been a massive collective effort, and we would like to thank everyone that’s contributed to our success. Whether you supported our fundraising efforts, helped spread awareness by sharing our posts, or found and removed snares at one of our events,” said the member.

Snare Aware will be hosting a public event this weekend. For more information, or to get involved, send them a message on their Facebook page Snare Aware.
