SAPS spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the suspects, aged 36 and 33, handed themselves in on Thursday, June 9.
Simiso Gumede’s car was shot at by gunmen who chased him down Andrew Zondo Road until he parked near Take ’n Pay Supermarket and ran inside to take cover. The gunmen followed him and shot him dead inside the store.
“The suspects decided to hand themselves in when they realised that the Organised Crime and Special Investigations and Tracking Task Team was minimising their space. They were advised to hand themselves in by their attorney when they heard that the police were working around the clock to ensure that they are brought to book,” said Ngcobo.
Their first appearance was on June 10, and they were remanded in custody.
