Representing ACC in the Chetty Champs is Danelle Pillay and in the Mlaba Masters is the captain, Megan Powell and Nikita Sole.

ON Saturday, April 23, three women from the Amanzimtoti Cricket Club (ACC) played in the inaugural DSE Womens T20 Bash at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium and Oval broadcasted on Pitchvision and Supersport Schools.

Representing ACC in the Chetty Champs is Danelle Pillay and in the Mlaba Masters is the captain, Megan Powell and Nikita Sole.

“We won our first game against the Tyron Terminators by 49 runs. I took 3 wickets in 2.2 overs, it was a great day of cricket overall,” said Powell.

Danelle Pillay said, “One of my dreams, in my sporting career, was to play at the Kingsmead stadium. I stopped playing provincial cricket 10 years ago after I matriculated. During this five year spell at KZN cricket, I trained at Kingsmead stadium, been on the field and the stands and played at the Standard bank Oval a few times, but never at the stadium.

After I left cricket, I never imagined that the opportunity to play a match at Kingsmead Stadium would ever arise again. With day 1 down, our results are 1 loss and 1 win.”

Day 2 of the DSE Ladies T20 Bash resumes on Saturday, April 30, at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium and Oval, where all teams will compete in another group stage match starting at 09:00 followed by the much anticipated final starting at 13:00.
