Heavy traffic predicted in flood-stricken KZN ahead of Easter weekend

Holidaymakers are advised to plan ahead in order to avoid severe weather conditions.

HEAVY traffic is expected in hotspot destinations, including flood-ravaged KwaZulu-Natal, according to traffic officials.

Floods have wreaked havoc in KZN this week, killing more than 300 people and causing enormous devastation.

Beginning Thursday afternoon, traffic is likely to build up, said operations manager for the N3 Toll Route, Thania Dhoogra.

“Road users are collectively asked to find alternative routes and to follow the rules of the road,” said Dhoogra.

Holidaymakers, she said, will need to plan ahead in order to avoid severe weather conditions.

“Poor weather, high traffic volumes, emergency situations and prevailing road conditions may adversely impact road safety and travel experiences,” Doohgra added.
