The event hosted by Big M Productions at Liberty Hall in Durban North, acknowledged and awarded the Amanzimtoti women for their acts of humanity and service to the community.

Jo-ann Herbst, founder of the Elders Voice KZN, “currently houses and looks after 183 Sassa and disability pensioners who fall outside the basket, and cannot afford costly old age homes.

Many of her residents come from neglected and abused backgrounds and have little to no family involvement. Jo-ann works closely with the community in the field, police, social workers and government sectors.

Her project also boasts with many sustainability projects, allowing her residents to generate an income supplementing their income,” said director of influential women of the year, Pinky Mothie.

Eureka Olivier, director of Operation Bobbi Bear, “is a strong woman of note, who did not let her life’s challenges and struggles affect her negatively.

She decided to turn it into something positive and help children. Bobbi Bear has taught Eureka patience, love, confidence and most importantly strength.

She has overcome all hurt and is now empowered enough to fight back, not only for herself but for the justice of children who are raped, abused, and who cannot speak for themselves. She wants to be their voice,” said Mothie.
