Situated at 25 Main Road in Doonside, the shop opened in 2020, just nine days before the first Covid-19 case was confirmed in South Africa. The shop’s owner, Karen Duyvestyn, extended her gratefulness to the community for the support.

“We say thank you for the support we received during these difficult times as we celebrate our second anniversary. We look forward to continuing serving the community,” said Karen.

Ons Winkel also appeals for donations of clothing, furniture, antiques, kitchenware, bedding, curtains, toys, shoes, sports, and technological equipment to anything else cluttering your home.

The Solidarity Helping Hands Study Fund provides interest-free study loans to needy students who qualify to study further, but do not have the financial means to do so. The proceeds are also used for several other projects, such as children and senior organisations that are aimed at alleviating, ending, and preventing poverty.

The store is open six days a week from 8:30 to 17:00 on weekdays and 08:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays. Donations can be dropped at the shop or Karen can be contacted on 084 798 6394 for more information.
