Local scouts support flip flop day

1st Umbogintwini Scout Group raised R340 in support of Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC).

FIRST Umbogintwini Scout Group slipped into their flip flops on Friday, February 18, in support of Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC).

CHOC is a non-profit organisation made up of caring, committed and passionate people. They stand up for and support the well-being of children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening blood disorders and their families.

Scouts, Cubs and parents all participated by purchasing their flip flop sticker and raising R340 for CHOC.

“Community service is part of the six focus areas at Scouts. Participating in these kinds of days brings awareness to the troop and their families,” said assistant troop scouter, Adele Wilson.

1st Umbogintwini Meerkats (ages 5-6), Cubs (ages 7-10), Scouts (ages 11-18) meet every Friday evening from 17:00, 17:30 and 18:00 respectively at The Good Shepherd Church on Kingsway Road.
