Opening a case helps solve cases

Immediately reporting a crime and opening a case helps both the victim and the police.

A SUSPECTED repeat offender was arrested after trying to break into a residence on Ridge Road in Amanzimtoti for the second time on Saturday, January 22.

Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum (ACPF) spokesperson, Estelle van Eeden, said at around 03:30, Amanzimtoti central patrol units received a distress call from a homeowner stating that an intruder was attempting to enter her property.

“Patrollers responded to her residence and tracked the suspected intruder to the Toti Promenade. He was apprehended and transported to Amanzimtoti SAPS. We also commend the victim who went to the police station to open a case. This was not the first incident as she had previously opened a case of attempted housebreaking by the same perpetrator,” said Estelle.
