Former Toti rugby player murdered at his farm

Hedley Brown was in Amanzimtoti on January 15 for the Amanzimtoti Rugby Club's 75th-anniversary book launch.

THE community of Amanzimtoti is in shock after former resident and Amanzimtoti Rugby Club star player Hedley Brown, was found murdered at his farm in Lion’s River near Howick on Monday, January 24. The incident was confirmed by his brother-in-law, Denis Bellingan.

Bellingan said it is suspected that he was killed on Friday, January 21, as that was the last time anyone had heard from him, and did not respond to messages since then. His last Facebook post was made on the same day at 05:10. According to Bellingan, his tied-up body was discovered by his domestic worker on Monday, January 24, when she reported for duty.

On January 15, Brown had attended the 75th-anniversary book launch at the Amanzimtoti Rugby Club and spent time with his old teammates. Bellingan said he had not arrived at the scene, but was aware that two farm employees had gone missing.
