AN Amanzimtoti resident and avid guitarist, Marcel van der Linde, 60, was laid to rest recently after a service held at the South Coast Christian Center.

He passed away on December 22, on his way home from work after a car collided with his motorbike on the M7 in Durban. He was declared dead at the scene.
Marcel played bass guitar in the band Hoot Bridge and was also a sound coordinator. He was also a member of the Ulysses Motorcycle Club where he was a road captain. His daughter-in-law, Samantha Swanepoel, said music, guitars, motorcycles and family were things he held close to his heart.
“Marcel lived each day to the fullest. He was always busy with a new adventure on his bike and he loved camping. A week before his passing he told me and his son, Justin, out of the blue that if he should die the following day, he would have lived a full life without any regret. We will miss all his jokes, his laughter, and his will to live each day as it would be his last. He was the best dad and father-in-law and a caring and loving husband,” said Samantha.
He is survived by his wife El-Marie, his sons Dylan and Justin, two daughters-in-law Kirsty and Samantha, and his three-month-old granddaughter, Alexa.
