The highlight is the Santa's village display which is ure to get you into the Christmas spirit.

IF you’re experiencing cabin fever, or you’re not feeling the Christmas spirit just yet, make your way to the Gateway Theatre of Shopping and take a walk through the mall, which has had a major ‘glow up’.

Titled Let It Glow, media and other VIPs were treated to a tour though the mall on Tuesday, which featured eight Christmas displays that comprise bright lights, trees, elves, reindeers, sleighs and everything Christmas.

In the centre of the mall, couples can snuggle up close on the colour-changing love in paradise bench, while kids enjoy a teddy bear’s Christmas on the other side of the escalators.

Each display lends itself to the perfect photo opportunity, ideal for families and friends wanting to add some magic to this year’s scrap book.

“We invite visitors to use what we’ve created as fascinating backdrops to capture holiday fun together,” said Gateway Theatre of Shopping’s marketing manager, Michelle Shelley.

“With enchanting holiday displays stretching the length of the mall, visitors can join the festive light experience at any point and follow the trail of lights to make sure they don’t miss anything,” said Shelley.

The Expo Explore area has been transformed into a village for Father Christmas and his helpers. Prepare to let your imagination run wild, take a picture with Father Christmas and watch a virtual reality Christmas clip of his workshop.

“Father Christmas has taken over the Expo Explore area to set up a village where there are a host of interactive scenes to enjoy. It’s a place to let your imagination loose, have fun and take unforgettable pics,” said Shelley.

“Hop on and feel the exhilaration of soaring around the world on our Covid-compliant sleigh.” If you’re not the Christmas type, then the World of Illusions could be the type of entertainment you’re looking for and its sure to boggle your mind.

“These unbelievable scenarios have been a runaway hit. The six rooms all have a festive snap-ready holiday theme. Can you imagine yourself in a snow globe?” asked Shelley.

The virtual movie costs R20 per person, but the displays and Father Christmas’s village are free. Let It Glow runs from December 3 to 23 during trading hours.
