Kingsburgh Welfare continues to serve the community

The welfare offices are situated at 2 Hall Road, Warner Beach.

For 76 years the Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare has served the community.  The organisation aims to promote, strengthen and preserve healthy family life. However, despite being situated in the same area since its inception, many members of the community have never heard of the organisation or know where the office is located.

“Several workshops are and have been ongoing since last year,” said chairperson, Jenny Smith.

The welfare offices are situated at 2 Hall Road, Warner Beach.

“We also run a thrift shop between 08:00 and 11:30 on weekdays except for Wednesdays. We sell second-hand clothing, bric-a-brac and household goods at very reasonable prices. The community is welcome to browse through. A social worker is also available by appointment from 08:00 to 13:00 on weekdays. We are not government or Lotto funded and rely on community support to keep us going. Our heartfelt thanks to AECI that was instrumental in carrying us through the past two years. As we go forward with lesser Covid-19 restrictions, we will run more educational programmes and fundraising events.”

A red hanger sale will be held at the welfare offices on Saturday, November 6, from 07:00 to 11:30. The annual beach walk will also be held on Sunday, December 5, from Winklespruit Beach to Baggies Beach. Entry is R20 per adult and a bag of pre loved items.  For more information, contact Sandra Govender or Jenny Smith on 031 916 2274 or admin@kingsburghwelfare.org.za.  The incoming committee members for 2021 to 2022 is Sandra Govender, Jenny Smith, Pauline Widdowson, Linda Matthee, Morgan Padayachee, June Gray, Belinda Mkhize, Lyn Bignell, Pranisha Moses, Nombulelo Khomo, Prea Naidoo, Melanie Crowe, Sally Meiring, Lyn Hazell, Julia Orbe and Pete Smith.
