Stolen vehicles recovered, suspects bust in Amanzimtoti

The vehicle and driver was detained for further investigation on Thursday, August 26.

Two stolen vehicles were recovered and suspects were arrested in two days in Amanzimtoti and surrounding areas.  ET Rapid Response Tactical Response team received information of a possible stolen Ford Ranger that was spotted in the area on Thursday, August 26.

“The information was quickly relayed onto the CCPO network and it was not long before one of the CCPO committee members spotted the vehicle at Arbour Crossing. Observation was held by our TRT, CCPO and SAPS Integrated Vehicle Task Team. The driver was located, and after an inspection of his vehicle, it was positively identified as stolen from Chatsworth earlier this year,” said operations manager for ET, Louis van Ryneveld.

The vehicle and driver were detained for further investigation.  Meanwhile, a wanted vehicle was seen in the Amanzimtoti area on Friday, August 27.

“The vehicle members were looking for was suspected to be used in the theft of motor vehicles in the Amanzimtoti area. The vehicle was spotted on Ipahla Road and members kept observation. ET Rapid Response TRT, CCPO and SAPS Integrated Vehicle Task Team pulled the vehicle over on Kingsway Road. After a quick inspection, the vehicle was established as stolen from Durban North earlier this year.”

The driver was detained and the vehicle impounded.
