Art inspiration at monthly class

USCAA also offers drawing lessons which the public are invited to attend for a minimal fee of R10.

The Upper South Coast Art Association (USCAA) recently teamed up with Seadoone Mall to organise and run an art completion for the community. Several themes were allocated for each week and artists could submit as many entries as they wished.

“Well done to the winners and thank you to all who participated,” said the president of the club, Irene Carroll.

The association is also delighted to resume its normal activities and will meet on Saturday, August 21, at the Amanzimtoti Scout Hall situated at 4 Drake Road. The meeting will start at 13:00 and attendees are requested to arrive early to allow time for registration and Covid-19 screening.

“A demonstration will be given by a portrait artist using oil medium. Optionally, you may bring along your art materials, canvas and easel and follow the live demonstration. Anyone interested in art is welcome to join us. The visitor’s fee is R30 which includes tea.”

USCAA also offers drawing lessons which the public are invited to attend for a minimal fee of R10. The drawing lesson will also be held on Saturday, August 21 from 08:45 to 12 noon at the Amanzimtoti Scout Hall.
Ritha Fenske will be presenting the class and introducing interesting techniques using pencil crayons and pastels. The materials required for this week’s lesson are white cartridge paper and sturdy brown paper, oil pastels, an old cotton rag, a very small quantity of turpentine, pencil crayons, a drawing board, a small table easel if possible and a reference picture of dragonflies, bees or grasshoppers.

“Come along and join the fun. As per government regulations, all attendees will be required to wear a mask, a visor alone is inadequate.”
