Resident, 88, remains a shining ray of hope

Barbara thanks the residents who have gone beyond the call of duty.

Amidst the unrest, the true spirit of community has radiated through.  Several residents have been guarding the area and have stayed at posts throughout the night. Hoping to give thanks to the local heroes is Barbara Lane, 88, who is committed to helping however she can.

“A group in the areas have been co-ordinating and assisting the patrollers by making sandwiches and coffee for them. I made sandwiches yesterday with the items that I had at home. I know it is not much, but every little bit helps,” she said.

Barbara thanks the residents who have gone beyond the call of duty.

“These people are the real heroes of our community. Some people have been awake for 48 hours. The community has really been standing together during this difficult time.”

She encourages other residents to assist the community as well.

“If you want to help by making food, it has to be co-ordinated. This is to ensure that the snacks are evenly distributed between the community,” she added.

She also commends the other residents in the community who are also providing snacks of coffee to the residents.
