Man arrested for brutal murder of KwaMakhutha woman

The body of a 21-year-old woman was found with multiple stab wounds.

A 39-year-old suspect was arrested for the brutal killing of Anele Bhengu on Thursday, 17 June.  On Sunday, 13 June, police were notified of a murder in KwaMakhutha and responded to the scene. The body of a 21-year-old woman was found with multiple stab wounds.

“The police officers from Port Shepstone Tactical Response Team, Margate Detectives and the law enforcement agency followed up information regarding the suspect, who brutally killed a woman in KwaMakhuth,” said provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

The team went to Mlahlandlini on the South Coast and the suspect fled from his home into the nearby bushes after seeing police.

“The police gave chase and he was caught in the bushes. A 39-year-old suspect was placed under arrest and detained at Margate SAPS. He was transferred to KwaMakhutha SAPS for processing. The suspect is linked to the killing of Anele Bhengu who was brutally killed and stabbed multiple times.”

The suspect is set to appear before the Umbumbulu Magistrates’ Court.
