Two arrested for possession of illegal firearms

The suspects were placed under arrest for being in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition

Two men were arrested for being in the possession of five illegal firearms with nine rounds of ammunition in Folweni on Friday, 14 May.  An intelligence-driven operation was conducted by the police officers from the Provincial Vehicle Task Team at the Khiphulwazi area in Folweni.

“The team went to a homestead where a search was conducted in a rondavel where two males aged 22 and 27 were found. Upon searching the said males, they were found in possession of five illegal firearms with nine rounds of ammunition. A 46-year-old woman was also found inside the rondavel in possession of heroin drugs and cash. The value of the drugs is R3000,” said provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

The team then proceeded to Phola Reserve in Folweni where a 62-year-old man was found in possession of three firearms with six rounds of ammunition.

“The suspects were placed under arrest for being in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition. All the three suspects appeared before the Umbumbulu Magistrates’ Court.”
