Sapphire Coast Tourism frames Amanzimtoti views

The Sapphire Coast Tourism (SCT) project was recently launched by several members of the public, the Amanzimtoti Lions, Ted Holden from the Conservancy and councillor André Beetge.

Stunning views of the Indian Ocean, the industrial hub of Prospecton, Amanzimtoti Country Club and the Conservancy can be seen at the Amanzimtoti Viewpoint. This landmark was recently erected near the R102 and Golf Course Road Intersection in Athlone Park. It has already become a popular stopover for residents and visitors enjoying the stunning views. The Sapphire Coast Tourism (SCT) project was recently launched by several members of the public, the Amanzimtoti Lions, Ted Holden from the Conservancy and councillor André Beetge.

“Local is lekker. Local businesses such as Sopro, Polyco, Lavaplastic, South Coast Tar Mac and Petco assisted with the transformation from a vacant plot into a viewpoint. They placed a map board providing information about the Sapphire Coast region, erected the photo frame, installed a bench and bin (made out of recycled plastic) as well as tarring the area to allow visitors to park and soak in the great sight,” said SCT’s Romy Wenzel.

The public is urged to be responsible when visiting the area and make use of the dustbin provided.

“A few final touches are still to be made with regards to landscaping which will be completed in due course. Furthermore, great developments have taken place at the conservancy, led by Ted, as several trees have been planted by members of the public, creating family forests within the conservancy at Amanzimtoti Country Club. All in all, the aim is to invite more people to enjoy the facility as it has more to off er than just golfing.”
