Patients seek care at Khanya Hospice

Hospice is entirely dependent on the generosity and goodwill of companies and individuals.

COUNCILLORS are usually very busy with meetings or in their constituency, but councillor Bob Daniels, made time to pop in and visit Neil McDonald at Khanya Hospice.

According to McDonald he was interested in knowing how hospice’s workload increased, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic and how the staff are coping.

“People were too scared to go to hospitals and would rather phone Hospice for help and so we had an increase in patients admitted on our patient care programme,” said McDonald.

“As a registered NGO, we get no government funding,” said McDonald, and added that Hospice is entirely dependent on the generosity and goodwill of companies and individuals.

Daniels will assist Khanya Hospice to sort out a big water bill which it received during the past year, like many other people.

Hospice depends largely on volunteers in its charity shops. Contact Neil on 083-597-8985 or email hospice@khanyahospice.co.za to assist.
