Amanzimtoti Turning Point empowers entrepreneurs

The workshop was attended by 48 women who were given ideas on how to start or grow their businesses.

With the aim of equipping and empowering women, Amanzimtoti Trauma Unit (Turning Point) hosted a women’s entrepreneur workshop recently.  The workshop was attended by 48 women who were given ideas on how to start or grow their businesses. The first guest speaker, Stacey Yates, who is a motivational life coach, opened the morning with an ‘ice breaker’ which included lots of fun and laughter. She also presented a motivational talk on how to overcome life’s many, overwhelming obstacles.  The second guest speaker, Bukiwe Mashiyane, did a PowerPoint presentation on how to start, fund and grow a business. Bukiwe highlighted the importance of completing documentation, registration of businesses and also mentioned that NDA could assist future female business owners.

“At the workshop, a few women showcased their businesses and shared a few challenges and ideas with the attendees. With much appreciation to Fight Like A Girl, Finesse Financial Solutions and Seema Rugharbar for sharing their struggles and stories regarding gender-based violence and how they empowered themselves to become successful business owners,” said the organisation’s Norma-Jean Veldsman.
