Tasty treats to support children with cancer

Gill usually assists with fund-raisers three times a year and this year she opened up her home for the initiative.

More than 100 tasty treats were sold in honour of International Childhood Cancer Day.  A variety of delicious cupcakes and doughnuts were sold to raise much-needed funds for the organisation, Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer. The event was hosted by Gill Boting and her granddaughter, Casey.

“We are so happy. There was a fantastic turnout. We could not be happier to raise funds for the organisation. Usually, a huge fund-raising initiative takes place at Galleria Mall, and we were disappointed that we could not do it this year. We were glad that we could still do our bit for the organisation,” she said.

Gill usually assists with fund-raisers three times a year and this year she opened up her home for the initiative.

“We were delighted that Gill managed to sell all of the cupcakes that she made and sponsored and doughnuts that I sponsored. We are planning another initiative for Easter,” said cupcake angel, Shyanne Kanayee. “We are currently looking for more residents to support our organisation by either buying cupcakes or hosting an event.”

The mission of the organisation is to raise awareness of childhood cancer and funds for children living with cancer who are in need of medical and financial assistance. Members do this predominantly through their love of baking cupcakes.  To support this worthy cause or to host an event, contact Shyanne on 079-343-7291 or Emmie on 082-770-7998.
