Housebreaking suspect apprehended in Amanzimtoti

A chase ensued with the suspect jumping the fence of a home in the area.

A housebreaking suspect was apprehended by members of Blue Security in Kingsburgh following a chase.
The suspect was spotted at a complex in Middleton Road, Kingsburgh.

“After completing a check of the property, events escalated quickly when an armed-response officers saw the suspect running up Gordon Road, a short distance away,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.

A chase ensued with the suspect jumping the fence of a home in the area.

“Even though he was pursued, the suspect still managed to open a lounge window, remove screws on the burglar proofing and pull a laptop out the window.”

The resident immediately activated the panic alarm and the intruder fled.  Crime prevention units arrived to assist in the search for the suspect, who was thought to be hiding in between the properties.

“An officer eventually caught up to the fleeing suspect and successfully apprehended him a block away in Murray Smith Road. He was taken back to the property where the laptop had been removed. The residents confirmed the suspect’s identity.”

Members of Amanzimtoti SAPS took the suspect into custody for further processing.
