Community says farewell to business man

The restaurant opened its doors in 2019 and has become a favourite for many.

Local businessman, Mark Evared, suffered a fatal heart attack on Monday, 18 January. He was the co-owner of Friends Family Restaurant and will be dearly missed in the community.

“He was an amazing man,” said his business partner, Barry Haupt.  “He was a father figure to everyone and a big teddy bear. He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.”

The restaurant opened its doors in 2019 and has become a favourite for many. Mark lived in Amanzimtoti for 26 years and was a friend to everyone he met.

“He was the glue that bounded everyone together. We will miss him dearly.”

Mark will be cremated on Friday, 22 January and a memorial service held on his birthday, 18 March.
