Animals celebrate a tail-wagging Christmas in Amanzimtoti

The fund was renamed in honour of the co-ordinator who died in early 2020.

Generous animal lovers donated a total of R17 700 to last year’s Marlene Prinsloo Christmas Dinner Fund. There was a last contribution of R300 in late December with the message ‘Merry Christmas. Thank you for all you do for the animals. Love the Nells, Robinsons and Perdichizzi’.

The fund, which was renamed in honour of the co-ordinator who died in early 2020, is a fundraiser for Amanzimtoti SPCA to help feed and stray animals over the festive season. The fund’s contributions were spent on providing food for the homeless, abandoned and destitute animals housed by the SPCA and ran throughout the month of December. People who contributed had a short message printed in the SUN on behalf of a pet.

“We thank everyone who contributed to this incredible total of money raised over the festive season. We know everyone is struggling during these very difficult and trying times and we thank you for assisting us in being able to look after the many animals that have found their way into our care. No donation is to small and every cent is used towards the welfare and well-being of these animals. Thank you to everyone for their loyal and continued support and we wish everyone all the best in 2021,” said Amanzimtoti SPCA manager, Tracy Girling.
