Officers involved in shootout in Amanzimtoti

No members were harmed in the shootout.

Response officers were involved in a high-speed chase and shootout with a gang of thieves on Wednesday, 9 December. A patrolling PT Alarms tactical unit member spotted their vehicle that had been flagged near a mall in Toti, but the suspects fled when they saw him.

A high speed chase ensued and the suspects headed towards KwaMakhutha. They opened fire and members returned fire. The suspects fled into KwaMakhutha, where they abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The vehicle was recovered and police responded to the scene.

It was determined the vehicle had been used in the commission of other crimes. Investigations are ongoing. No members were harmed in the shootout.
