Lost girl, 2, rescued by Operation Bobbi Bear

After investigations, it was discovered that the door to their home was badly broken and could not be closed or locked.

A two-year-old girl wondered out of her dilapidated home during the early hours of Saturday, 14 November.
Operation Bobbi Bear was summoned by SAPS to assist the child who was found walking on a main road. She was taken to the organisation where she was cleaned up, fed and put to bed before an investigation was conducted.

“Our walkabout baby was a victim of another Covid-19 tragedy. Her mother searched all night for her child and was eventually told her baby is at Bobbi Bear. We went with her mother to the home and after some intense investigation we found that she is very sick and on medicine. She also lost her job, and is really battling to make ends meet with her two children,” said the organisation’s Eureka Olivier.

After investigations, it was discovered that the door to their home was badly broken and could not be closed or locked.

“For any mother in her situation, if she had to choose between a new door and food for her children, the food will win. The baby woke up during the night and walked out and got lost. When her mother woke up and realised her baby was gone, she immediately started her search. She arrived at our house frantic, but relieved that her baby was safe and unharmed. Bobbi Bear will now assist this little family to try and repair the door and see how we can help them.  Thank you to everyone for their concerns. At least we have a happy ending and the mother and child are reunited.”
