Ever heard of augmented reality, also referred to as AR? Well, if you haven’t, get ready because the South Coast Sun has been augmenting your print edition of the newspaper in a big way. By using a simple and free downloadable app, called PixzAR, the opportunity to bring your newspaper to life, with cutting edge technology, is at your fingertips.

Augmented reality is a type of technology that blends interactive digital elements on newspaper pages. The result is a composite, moving view – allowing you to watch videos, view photo galleries or listen to voice notes, all through your printed edition of the South Coast Sun.

Ready to immerse yourself in some augmented reality? We’ll take you through the process:

Pick up your smart phone – Go to the Play Store on Android devices or App Store on Apple devices – Download the free PixzAR application – Once you have the application open and have successfully completed the necessary prompts, click here to open this week’s e-paper. Don’t forget to check out our augmented articles in next week’s edition of the South Coast Sunl.

All augmented articles will be clearly marked with a PixzAR logo which will include icons indicting a video, gallery, sound clip or online article. Friends and family who reside outside of the Highway area will also be able to access our augmented articles online via our e-papers on our website, https://www.citizen.co.za/south-coast-sun/epapers/

The same instructions apply and all augmented articles can scanned on a computer screen. Tip: For augmented videos, you have a click and play option. Once the video is in full screen mode, you will be able to move your device away from the paper and continue watching the visuals.
