Locals clean up Amanzimtoti beaches

They are busy from 7am to 9am and this Sunday, 8 November will be at Toti Lagoon.

A local company has taken it upon themselves to help clean up Toti beaches. “Last month we took a morning beach walk and we were shocked at how much garbage was washed up, with even more laying on the beach to be pulled back into the ocean.

The ocean is a natural wonder, which we need to preserve in order for all the ocean’s marvelous creatures to have a clean and happy home. That led us to make a decision that on every Sunday morning, we will be on the beaches cleaning up,” said Christel Hartslief, the director of Perfixtion Development.

On 18 October they tackled Toti to Doonside beaches; on 25 October Doonside to Warner Beach; and on 1 November Toti Lagoon to Toti Rocks. “We have had many volunteers over the past few weeks and we thank them for their time and effort.”

They invite other nature-loving locals and challenge other businesses to join them. They are busy from 7am to 9am and this Sunday, 8 November will be at Toti Lagoon again. For more information, call Christel on 083-560-1498.
