Copper thief nabbed in Amanzimtoti

A suspected copper thief from Amanzimtoti was arrested by members of Blue Security on Tuesday, 13 October in Amanzimtoti. According to the company’s media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios the arrest occurred after reports were received of a housebreaking in the Adams Road area.

Two suspects were seen fleeing the property and the alert was raised. It was later established that a small store room had been broken into and copper pipes had been removed. One of the suspects had been observed jumping over a neighbouring electric fence in Adams Road. Units immediately escalated patrols in the area as more reports of a fence-hopper matching the suspect’s description were received from residents in a complex in nearby Fynn Road,” he said.

The suspect was immediately arrested and later handed over to members of Amanzimtoti SAPS for further processing.
