Kingsburgh Lions Club boosted with new members

The Lions’ monthly fleamarket at St Mary’s Church in Warner Beach will kick off on Saturday, 31 October

Kingsburgh Lions Club is on a high with new members lining up to be inducted, which bodes well and heralds exciting times for the club. Members recently took advantage of the more relaxed lockdown rules to schedule a face-to-face business meeting last month at their usual monthly place in St Mary’s Church hall. This was their first non-Zoom meeting in six months! Dawn Hall and Elna van der Walt were welcomed as new members. The ‘newbies’ have wasted no time in making their presence known by getting involved in a number of projects. Kingsburgh Lions president, Tony Marron and new member Zoe Bridge are spearheading a feeding scheme in Ezimangweni, where about 150 children and 30 adults are receiving a nourishing meal every Wednesday. Diabetes testing was also introduced to the community recently. “Sr Vicky Sikhosana, who assists us at our monthly diabetes testing at Arbour Crossing and soon to be a member of the club, assisted me in the testing of a number of people. It turned out to be a valuable exercise for at least one person whose reading was dangerously high and it was recommended that she consult a doctor for further tests and treatment. More plans to help this community in various ways are in the pipeline,” said Lion Tony. Its monthly fleamarket at St Mary’s Church in Warner Beach will kick off on Saturday, 31 October, although in a smaller version. “With Christmas on the horizon, great bargains are to be had at these markets, so we hope everyone comes out to support it.”   DID YOU KNOW? Click on the words highlighted in red to read more on this and related topics. To receive news links via WhatsApp or Telegram, send an invite to 061 694 6047 The South Coast Sun is also on FacebookTwitterInstagram and Pinterest – why not join us there?
