Anti-litter messages beautify Amanzimtoti
“The colourful anti-litter messages are to encourage young and old to dispose of litter responsibly while having fun in the sun along the treasured Sapphire Coastline,” said Sapphire Coast Toursim’s Romy Wenzel.
Community activists and environmentalists encourage the public to be part of the solution, not the pollution. They have rallied together and installed 10 anti-litter signs at local beaches. The signs have been placed at Amanzimtoti Main Beach, Warnadoone and Winklespruit Beach in commemoration of Environmental Month. The signs feature creative anti-litter messages and whimsical illustrations.

“Many thanks to Keith Walters and his team from Lavaplastic for manufacturing and installing the signage and frames that are made out of recycled plastic. This project is in line with the three Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle. This initiative has been proudly sponsored by Polyco, supported by Clean Surf Project, Sapphire Coast Tourism and eThekwini Municipality and is part of the recently launched environmental project called ‘Inkwazi Isu’, Fish Eagle Project.”
