Mayor Cllr Mxolisi Kaunda has urged eThekwini residents to drive carefully and be cautious when using fires to keep warm.

Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution and maintain a safe following distance while driving on wet roads as the city experiences rains.

The South African Weather Services predicts that the city will experience light rains and cold weather throughout the week.

Mayor Cllr Mxolisi Kaunda has urged eThekwini residents to drive carefully and be cautious when using fires to keep warm.

We wish to caution our residents that while driving on wet roads, motorists must ensure that they do not speed, keep a safe following distance and obey road rules to avoid crashes. We also plead for the responsible use of fire as our City is prone to fire disasters, particularly in informal settlements”, said Kaunda.

In case of an emergency, residents are urged to alert the City’s Disaster Management Centre on 031 361 000.
