Murder and attempted murder suspect arrested in Malukazi

A murder and attempted murder suspect was arrested by Isipingo detectives who followed up possible leads at Malukazi area. The 44-year-old man is accused of killing Mzwandile Jwara, 28, and attempting to kill Mzwandile’s girlfriend on 27 June.

Provincial police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala said, “On Thursday night, they managed to make a breakthrough when they arrested a 44-year-old suspect. He was traced and arrested in Umlazi where he was hiding and evading police. He was found in possession of a firearm suspected to be used in the commission of the crime. The firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if it is linked to the case as well as any other serious crimes reported in the country.”

The suspect fled the scene and has been on the run since. The investigation revealed that the suspect was the ex-boyfriend of the woman who survived.”

He is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder and attempted murder. KwaZulu-Natal provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Khombinkosi Jula praised all involved in tracing and apprehending the suspect.
